Getting Started
New to Inscriti? Start here.
1.1 — What is Inscriti?
Inscriti is a private app schools use to keep parents, teachers, and admins connected. It replaces group chats, email blasts, paper notes, and one-off texts with a single, organized place for school news.
1.2 — What can I do with Inscriti?
- See posts and announcements from your school and your child's classes
- Message teachers and school staff
- Get notified about new posts, messages, and important updates
- See your child's classes and (where enabled) their attendance
- Request an early pickup
- View the school calendar
- Edit your profile and notification preferences
1.3 — How do I download the app?
We recommend downloading the Inscriti app before you accept your school's invitation — that way the invite link opens straight into the app instead of the web.
- On a phone or tablet: Open jfeld.link/inscriti-download. The link sends you to the right app store for your device.
- On iPhone or iPad: You can also open the App Store and search Inscriti.
- On Android: You can also open Google Play and search Inscriti.
- On a computer: Open your web browser and go to app.inscriti.com. You don't need to install anything.
ℹ️
If you don't download the app first, the invite link will take you to the web to create your account. Both flows work — but the mobile app gives you push notifications and is faster day-to-day.
1.4 — How do I get my first invitation?
Your school office invites you. You will receive an email titled something like "You've been invited to Inscriti."
If you don't see it in your inbox:
- Check your Spam or Junk folder.
- Make sure your school used the same email you check most often.
- Contact your school office and ask them to resend the invite.
1.5 — How do I accept an invitation?
Once you have the email and (recommended) the app installed:
- Open the invitation email from Inscriti.
- Tap Accept invitation (or the link in the email).
- If the Inscriti app is installed on your phone, it opens directly. If not, it opens in your web browser.
- If you don't have an Inscriti account yet, you'll be walked through account setup (see onboarding below). If you already have one, you'll just be asked to sign in.
- Verify your email if asked to.
Once you finish setup and verify your email, you're automatically signed in and linked to your school. No separate step to join.
1.6 — Walk through onboarding
If you're creating a new account, setup happens one screen at a time:
- First name — type your first name. Tap Next.
- Last name — type your last name. Tap Next.
- Phone — type your phone number, or tap Skip for now. It's optional.
- Review the terms — read and agree to the Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and EULA. Tap Continue.
- Password — choose a password that meets the requirements shown on screen (a minimum length, plus an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a symbol). Tap Create Account.
- Email verification — check your inbox and open the verification email Inscriti sends you. This screen updates automatically once it's confirmed.
- Notifications — choose whether to turn on push notifications and which kinds of updates you want (school announcements, class updates, student updates, messages). Tap Continue.
- Profile picture — tap Choose Photo to add one, or tap Skip for now. Tap Continue.
- Tap Let's go.
You're now signed in and linked to your school. You can start using Inscriti right away.
1.7 — How do I sign in if I already have an account?
- Open the app.
- Type your email and tap Continue.
- Type your password and tap Sign In.
ℹ️
If your account was created with Google or Apple, the app will tell you and point you to the matching button instead of asking for a password.
1.8 — How do I sign in with Google?
ℹ️
The Google email must match the email your school used to invite you (or the email already on your Inscriti account).
- On the sign-in screen, tap Continue with Google.
- Choose the Google account you want to use.
- The app signs you in automatically.
1.9 — How do I sign in with Apple?
Available on iPhone/iPad and on the web (not on Android).
- On the sign-in screen, tap Continue with Apple.
- Follow Apple's prompts to confirm your identity.
- The app signs you in automatically.
1.10 — How do I sign out?
- Open the menu (☰) and tap Account.
- Scroll to the bottom.
- Tap Sign Out.
- Confirm.
1.11 — What do I see when I first open the app?
You'll usually land on the Home tab, which shows your school's feed of posts. On a phone, the bottom of the screen has just three tabs — Home, Classes, and Messages — and everything else (Calendar, Account, and more) is one tap away in the menu (☰). On a tablet or computer, all of it is listed in the sidebar. The exact items you see depend on your role and which features your school has turned on.
02

The app will use your initials in a colored circle instead.

- Tap your picture at the top of the screen.
- Tap Remove Photo and confirm.
This option only appears once you have a photo uploaded.

- Open the menu (☰) and tap Account.
- Tap Account & Security.
- Next to Email & Password, tap Change password.
- Type your current password.
- Type and confirm your new password. It needs to meet the requirements shown on screen.
- Tap Save.

Once you set a password, you can sign in with either your email and password or your social account.
- Open the menu (☰) and tap Account.
- Tap Account & Security.
- Next to Email & Password, tap Set password.
- Choose a new password and type it twice.
- Tap Set Password.
2.7 — Reset your password if you forgot it
- On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password?
- Type your email and tap Send Reset Link.
- Check your email for a 6-digit code.
- Enter the code and tap Verify code.
- Choose a new password and type it twice.
- Tap Update Password.
If the code doesn't arrive within a minute or two, check your spam folder or tap Resend code (you may need to wait up to 60 seconds).
2.8 — Connect your Google or Apple account
There's no separate "link" button — Google and Apple connect automatically the moment you sign in with them using the same email as your Inscriti account.
- On the sign-in screen, tap Continue with Google or Continue with Apple.
- Sign in with the same email your Inscriti account uses.
- Open Account → Account & Security to confirm it now shows as Linked.
2.9 — Unlink Google or Apple
⚠️
You need at least one other way to sign in first (email and password, or the other social account) — otherwise you'll be locked out and the app won't let you unlink.
- Open the menu (☰) and tap Account.
- Tap Account & Security.
- Next to Google or Apple, tap the unlink icon.
- Confirm.
2.10 — Change the app's language
- Open the menu (☰) and tap Account.
- Tap Language.
- Tap the language you want (English or Hebrew / עברית).
The app restarts to apply your choice.
2.11 — View the Terms, Privacy Policy, and EULA
- Open the menu (☰) and tap Account.
- Tap Legal.
- Tap the document you want: About Inscriti, Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, or EULA.
2.12 — Request account deletion
Deleting your account isn't instant — it's a request that Inscriti's privacy team reviews.
- Open the menu (☰) and tap Account.
- Tap Account & Data.
- Read what happens, then tap Request account deletion.
- Confirm. You'll be signed out shortly after.
Your account profile and sign-in access are removed or de-identified, typically within 30 days, and you'll get a confirmation email when it's done. Some student, attendance, message, media, or audit records may need to stay with the school for safety, legal, or record-keeping reasons even after your account is deleted.
ℹ️
Prefer not to use the app? Email privacy@inscriti.com from your account's email address to request deletion instead.
2.13 — Switch between schools
One Inscriti account can belong to more than one school — for example, a child at one school and a teaching job at another, or children at two different schools. You can switch between them at any time without signing out.
- Open the Home tab.
- Tap the school name and logo at the top of the screen.
- Pick the school you want to view.
The whole app re-loads for that school — the feed, classes, messages, calendar, and even your role, colors, and logo all switch to match it. Your other schools stay just a tap away. Inscriti remembers the school you were last viewing, so you'll land back there next time you open the app.
ℹ️
The school switcher always appears at the top of Home — even if you only belong to one school today, it's ready the moment you're added to another. If a school you belong to has been deactivated, it still shows in the list (under "Unavailable") but you can't switch into it.

You can also open your child's profile and tap the message icon next to a teacher's name — see Message your child's teacher from their profile.

- Tap the info icon at the top.
- Turn on Mute.
ℹ️

4.11 — Know if a message has been read

5.3 — See who's in a class (staff only)
- Open the class.
- Tap People.
- See the Teachers section and the Students section, each with a count.
The People tab is only visible to staff and admins — not to parents, students, or class followers.

Current classes and each archived school year are sorted separately. Use Reset to A-Z to go back to alphabetical order.

ℹ️
Only a class whose school year matches the school's current active school year can be restored.

- Confirm.
Admins and staff with the Classes permission only.
5.15 — Post just to one class
When writing the post, choose Classes as the audience and select that one class.

- Format B — QR Check-In: parents and students scan a QR code to check in and out.
Admins and staff with the Classes permission only.

Class Codes & Inviting Parents
Every way to connect a parent to a class — email invites and self-serve class codes.
6.1 — The two ways families connect to your school
There are exactly two ways a parent or guardian gets connected to a class on Inscriti. Everything else is a variation of one of these:
- You invite them (school-initiated). Staff add a parent's email to a student. Inscriti emails them an invitation; the moment they sign in with that email, they're automatically linked to their child — no codes, no approval step. This is the most accurate path because you control exactly who is linked to which student.
- They use a class code (family-initiated). Staff share a short code (or QR) for a class. A parent enters it and connects themselves — either enrolling their child or following the class. Great for self-serve sign-ups, grandparents, aides, and anyone you'd rather not enter by hand.
ℹ️
Both doors lead to the same place. Use email invites for your core roster, and class codes for everyone else.
6.2 — What is a class code?
A class code is a short 6-character code (for example, K7M2QX) that belongs to one class. Each class has its own code, shown with a matching QR code. A parent who enters the code — or scans the QR, or opens the share link — is connected to that class right away. Codes never include confusing characters like 0, O, 1, or I.
6.3 — All the ways to connect a parent to a class
Here is the complete list of ways an admin or teacher can get a parent connected:
- Email invite from a student's profile — you type the parent's email; they're auto-linked when they sign in. (Most precise — see below.)
- Invite parents during a CSV import — turn on the invitations option in the import preview; off by default.
- Share the class code or QR — post it, text it, or show the QR in class; parents self-join.
- Email the class code to a specific person straight from the class.
ℹ️
A student added one at a time (or by CSV with invitations left off) has no parent invited automatically. Add parent emails from the student's profile, or share the class code, to connect families afterward.
6.4 — Invite a parent by email (from a student)
This is the most accurate way to link a parent to a specific child. Admins and staff with the Students permission only.
- Open the Students tab and tap the student.
- Open the Family tab and, in Parents & Guardians, tap Invite.
- Type the parent's Email Address (required). First and last name are optional.
- Choose the Relationship: Mother, Father, Guardian, or Other.
- (Optional) Turn on Primary Contact and Can Pick Up (Can Pick Up is on by default).
- Tap Send Invitation.
The parent gets an email to set up their account. As soon as they sign in with that email, they're linked to this child automatically — there's nothing for you to approve. To turn on Receives Notifications for this parent, use Manage on the Family tab afterward.
6.5 — Create a class code (admins, teachers)
- Open the Classes tab and open the class.
- Tap People.
- Find the Class join code card.
- Tap Create class code.
The code and its QR appear right away. Only staff can see this card.
6.6 — Share a class code
Once a code exists, you can hand it to families in a few ways:
- On the Class join code card, tap Share to open your device's share sheet (text, email, messaging apps, etc.).
- Or read the 6-character code out loud / put it in a class post.
- Or show the QR code on screen and have parents scan it with their phone camera.
Scanning the QR or opening the shared link takes the parent straight to the join screen in the app.
6.7 — Email a class code to someone
- On the Class join code card, tap Email.
- Type the recipient's email address.
- Tap Send.
Inscriti sends them a branded email with the code, so they can connect even if they're not in your system yet.
6.8 — Get a new code or turn a code off
On the Class join code card:
- Tap New code to replace the current code with a fresh one. The old code stops working immediately — useful if a code was shared too widely.
- Tap Disable to switch the code off without deleting it. Tap Enable to turn it back on.
ℹ️
Turning a code off does not remove anyone who already joined — it only stops new people from using that code.
6.9 — Join a class with a code (parents)
If a teacher or school gave you a class code:
- Tap the Classes tab.
- Tap Join (the + button — shown to parents and to anyone not yet part of a school).
- Type the code and tap Look up code.
- If the class is for one of your children, choose the child under "Which of your children is this class for?" and tap Join class.
- If you don't have a child in this class (or aren't linked to one yet), just tap Follow class.
You can also tap a share link or scan a QR code from your school — it opens this same screen. If you don't have an account yet, you can create one and you'll be brought right back to finish joining.
6.10 — Enrolling a child vs. following a class
What happens when you enter a code depends on whether you pick a child:
- Pick a child → they're enrolled. The child is added to the class roster right away and you get the full class experience for them. You'll see "You're in!"
- No child selected → you follow the class. The class appears on your Classes tab with a Following badge, and you'll see its posts and notifications. You'll see "You're following!"
Children who are already enrolled show a ✓ Enrolled tag and can't be added twice.
6.11 — What a follower can and can't do
Following keeps you in the loop without being on the roster.
A follower can:
- See the class on their Classes tab (with a Following badge)
- Open the class and read its posts
- Like and comment on posts
- Get notifications about new class posts
A follower can't:
- See the class roster, student profiles, or attendance (the People tab is staff-only)
- Take part in messaging through the class
ℹ️
If you should have full access to your child's class, ask the school to link your child to your account. Following is meant for everyone else.
6.12 — See and remove followers (staff)
Staff can see exactly who is following a class via a code, and remove anyone at any time.
- Open the class and tap People.
- Scroll to the Followers section (only staff can see it).
- Tap Remove next to anyone you want to take off.
Removing a follower instantly stops them from seeing the class and its posts. They can re-join later if you share a valid code again.
6.13 — Stop following a class (parents)
- Open the class.
- Tap the Following pill at the top.
- Confirm that you want to unfollow.
You'll stop seeing the class and its posts. You can re-join anytime with the class code.

Attendance
Take attendance with taps or QR codes — student and staff.
7.1 — Take attendance for your class
Attendance works one of two ways, depending on how a class is set up: marking each student's status, or recording check-in/check-out times.
Status classes (Present / Late / Absent / Excused):
- Open the class → Attendance.
- Today is selected by default — tap the date, or use the arrows beside it, to work on another day.
- Tap Present, Late, Absent, or Excused for each student.
- Tap Mark N remaining as Present to fill in everyone left over.
- Tap Save Attendance.
Check-in/check-out classes:
- Open the class → Attendance.
- Tap Check In next to a student when they arrive, and Check Out when they leave.
- Tap Save Attendance to record it.
Once everything is saved, the button reads Up to Date and shows "Attendance saved successfully."
ℹ️
You can add a short note to any student before saving — tap Add note under their card. Staff assigned to the class, and admins with the Student attendance permission, can take attendance.
7.2 — Check in with the class QR code
Check-in/check-out classes can also let parents and students check themselves in with a QR code, instead of waiting for a staff member to tap it for them.
- Open the class page.
- Tap Check In (only shown for check-in/check-out classes).
- Scan the code the school is displaying for that class.
- If you have more than one child in the class, pick who's checking in.
- Tap to check in — tap the same button again later to check out.
ℹ️
Staff: tap the QR icon at the top of the class's Attendance screen to display the code (QR Check-In) for families to scan.
7.3 — Fix or delete an attendance record
Attendance for a day stays editable until you delete it.
- Open the class → Attendance.
- Pick the date with the mistake.
- Status classes: tap the correct status for that student.
- Check-in/check-out classes: tap the time next to a student (for example "In 8:05 AM") to correct it, or tap Undo to remove the last check-in or check-out.
- Tap Save Attendance.
To remove a student's record for the day entirely, tap the trash icon on their card (only shown once a record is saved) and confirm Delete Record.
7.4 — View a student's attendance history
- Open the student's profile.
- Tap the Attendance tab.
- Use the date strip to move between months.
- Tap a status chip (Present, Late, Absent, Excused) to filter the list to just that outcome.
Summary tiles at the top show the totals for that month. A day the student left early shows a note with a View option for the signature.
7.5 — See who's absent right now
Inside a class: open the class → Attendance — the day's list shows every student's status at a glance.
For the whole school: open Student Attendance from the menu. It shows one day at a time across every class you can see, with Present/Absent/Late/Excused counts, filters by class or outcome, and search. Tap a student to open their attendance history.
ℹ️
Available to teachers (their own classes) and admins with the Student attendance permission.
7.6 — About Staff Attendance
Staff Attendance lets teachers and admins sign themselves in and out — by scanning a QR code or at a front-desk kiosk — and gives admins a daily view of who's expected, signed in, late, or missing a sign-out.
It's an optional feature. Admins turn it on in School Management → Features, then set it up under School Management → Attendance (QR codes, the kiosk, location checks, and grace periods).
Once it's on, every staff member sees My Attendance in the menu. Admins with the Staff attendance permission also see Staff Attendance, the dashboard for the whole school.
7.7 — Sign in and out with the QR code (staff)
- Open My Attendance from the menu.
- Tap Scan QR Code (or Scan to Sign Out if you're already signed in).
- Point your camera at the school's staff attendance code.
Signing in outside your normal schedule? You'll be asked why — pick a reason (Meeting, Preparation, Substitute Coverage, Event, Training, Administrative Work, or Other) and continue. That sign-in is recorded as additional attendance for an admin to review.
ℹ️
Only shown when your school allows QR sign-in. If it doesn't, use the front-desk kiosk instead.
7.8 — Sign in and out at the kiosk (staff)
Some schools use a front-desk iPad instead of, or alongside, QR sign-in. How you identify yourself depends on the school's setting:
- Tap your name: find yourself in the list and confirm Sign in or Sign out.
- Enter your PIN: type your 6-digit attendance PIN. Set one first — see Set your Attendance PIN.
The kiosk shows a confirmation with the time and your expected hours, then resets for the next person.
ℹ️
An admin can lock the iPad to this screen ("Lock handoff") behind a 4-digit PIN when handing it off. Only a matching PIN or an admin's account password unlocks it.
7.9 — Set your Attendance PIN
- Open Settings.
- Tap Attendance PIN.
- Choose a 6-digit PIN and enter it again to confirm.
This is the PIN you type at a kiosk set to PIN sign-in. Avoid a PIN that's all the same digit or a simple sequence — it will be rejected.
ℹ️
Admins can reset your PIN but never see it. Only shown once your school has turned on Staff Attendance.
7.10 — My Attendance: today, recent days, and requests
Open My Attendance from the menu to see:
- Today — your expected hours, current status, sign-in/out times, and the Scan QR Code button.
- Recent — the last week, one row per day. Tap a day to request a correction for it.
- Requests — your corrections and additional attendance, with their status (Pending, Approved, Denied).
Tap View History under Recent for your full last 90 days.
7.11 — Request a correction or add missed attendance
Both are reviewed by an admin, who notifies you when it's approved or denied.
Request a correction (you signed in or out, but it's wrong or missing):
- Open My Attendance → Request a Correction (or tap the day itself under Recent).
- Choose what happened: missing sign-in, missing sign-out, wrong time, QR problem, kiosk problem, or other.
- Enter the correct time(s) and a short reason.
- Tap Submit.
Add additional attendance (you worked outside your normal schedule — a meeting or event):
- Open My Attendance → Add Additional Attendance.
- Set the date, start and end time, and a reason.
- Tap Submit.
7.12 — The Staff Attendance dashboard (admins)
Open Staff Attendance from the menu for a school-wide view of one day at a time: Expected, Signed In, Not Signed In, Late, and Needs Attention counts, plus a Needs Attention list for anything that wants a look — a missing sign-out, a flagged location, a pending request.
- Use the date strip to move between days (you can also look ahead).
- Filter by status, role, or search for a name.
- Tap a staff member to open their day.
From a member's day you can edit or add a sign-in/sign-out, approve or deny a correction or additional-attendance request, delete a record, and see the full change history.
ℹ️
Requires the Staff attendance permission — viewing needs the "view" level, editing needs "manage."
7.13 — Set a staff member's schedule (admins)
- Open the staff member's profile.
- Under Attendance Schedule, tap Edit Schedule (or Set Schedule if they don't have one yet).
- Add hours for each day of the week they're expected.
- Choose when this schedule should begin — earlier days keep the previous schedule, so past attendance doesn't change.
- Tap Save Schedule.
A day with no scheduled hours isn't held against them — signing in that day is simply recorded as additional attendance.
7.14 — Close a day or clear someone's hours (admins)
Close the whole school (a holiday or snow day — nobody is expected, nobody is marked absent):
- Open Staff Attendance.
- Tap Tools → Close school for staff.
- Set the date range and an optional reason, then save.
A banner shows the closure with a Reopen option to undo it.
Clear one person's day (no school for just them): open their day from the dashboard and use Delete this day. It's restorable from the same place afterward.
7.15 — Show or print the staff QR code (admins)
- Open Staff Attendance.
- Tap Tools → Staff QR.
- Tap Full screen to display it on an iPad, TV, or monitor at the entrance.
A static code stays valid until you tap Regenerate code (this invalidates every printed copy) — tap Print to print one. A rotating code changes every minute and is meant to stay on a screen, not be printed.
ℹ️
Whether the code is static or rotating is set in School Management → Attendance.
08
Students
For admins and teachers.
8.1 — See all students
Tap the Students tab. Only Active students show by default — use the Active / Inactive / All filter above the list to see others.
The list is one combined roster: admins and staff with the Students permission see every student at the school. A staff member without that permission sees every student across all the classes they're assigned to teach, combined into one list. There's no per-class filter on this screen — open a class's own People tab to see just its roster.
8.2 — Search for a student
- Tap the Students tab.
- Tap the search bar.
- Type the student's name.
8.3 — Add a new student
- Tap the Students tab.
- Tap the + button.
- Type the First Name and Last Name (required).
- (Optional) Add Date of Birth, Address, any custom fields your school has set up, Student Phone, Student Email, a Class, emergency contact details, Allergies, and Medical Notes.
- Tap Create Student.
ℹ️
Student Email is for the student's own app sign-in, not for a parent. To invite a parent, do that afterward from the student's Family tab.
8.4 — Import students from a CSV
Import a whole roster from a spreadsheet — any column layout works, and nothing needs renaming first.
- Tap the Students tab, then the Import button next to the main +.
- Choose a file — a CSV export from your other system, or tap Download a starter template if you don't have one.
- Match the columns: say which column is which field. Columns Inscriti recognizes are filled in for you already.
- Match the classes: point each class name in your file at the matching Inscriti class.
- Review the preview — new students, students updated, already up to date, rows needing review, and rows that can't be imported — then tap Import.
Two switches appear on the preview step:
- Authorised pickup (on by default) — whether every guardian in the file is approved to pick up their child. Change it per guardian afterward if needed.
- Parent invitations (off by default) — turn this on to email an Inscriti invitation to parents in the file who don't already have an account.
ℹ️
With invitations left off, importing only creates the students. Add parent emails from each student's profile, or share a class code, to connect families afterward.
8.5 — Edit a student's info
- Open the student.
- Tap the pencil icon.
- Update the info.
- Tap Save.
Admins and staff with the Students permission only.
8.6 — Add a photo to a student
- Open the student → Edit (the pencil icon).
- Tap the photo.
- Choose a photo or take one.
- Save.
Any staff member — or a linked parent — can update a student's photo; the Students permission isn't required just for this.
8.7 — Fill in custom fields for a student
- Open the student.
- Tap the pencil icon.
- Scroll to Custom Fields and fill in each one your school has set up.
- Tap Save.
Already-filled custom fields also show on the student's Health tab. Admins and staff with the Students permission only.
8.8 — Enroll a student in a class
- Open the student.
- In Class Enrollment, tap Enroll.
- Add or remove classes for that student.
- Tap Save enrollment.
You can also add a student from the class side — see Add students to a class. Enrolling a student in a class enrolls them for that class's school year; there's no separate "enroll in a school year" step. Admins and staff with the Students permission only.
8.9 — Invite a parent from a student
Full details are in Class Codes & Inviting Parents. In short:
- Open the student → Family tab.
- In Parents & Guardians, tap Invite.
- Enter the parent's email and relationship, then tap Send Invitation.
The parent gets an email to set up their account and is linked automatically the moment they sign in with that address.
8.10 — Manage a parent's access to a student
- Open the student → Family tab.
- In Parents & Guardians, tap Manage.
- Toggle Primary contact, Approved for pickup, and Receives notifications for each parent.
- To fix a name or phone number, tap Edit details. Their email is their sign-in and can only be changed by Inscriti support.
Admins and staff with the Students permission only.
8.11 — Remove a parent from a student
- Open the student → Family tab.
- In Parents & Guardians, tap Manage.
- Tap Unlink Access next to the parent.
- Confirm.
Admins and staff with the Students permission only.
8.12 — Withdraw a student
Withdrawing makes a student inactive — there's no separate "Archive" feature, it's the same action. It removes the student from active class rosters (their history is kept) and, for parents with no other active child at the school, deactivates the parent's access too.
- Open the student.
- Open the Account tab.
- Tap Withdraw.
- (Optional) Pick a reason, a withdrawal date, and add a note.
- Confirm.
ℹ️
From the Students list, selecting one or more active students and tapping Archive does the same thing in bulk, without the reason/date/note step.
Admins and staff with the Students permission only.
8.13 — Re-enroll a withdrawn student into a class
- Tap the Students tab and filter to Inactive.
- Find the student and tap the Re-enroll chip on their row.
- Pick one class for the current school year.
- Save.
This reactivates the student and enrolls them in that class in a single step. Admins and staff with the Students permission only.
8.14 — Reactivate a student without enrolling
Reactivating only changes a student's status back to active — it doesn't enroll them in a class. Use Re-enroll instead if you also want to assign a class in the same step.
- Open the student.
- Open the Account tab and tap Reactivate — or, from the Students list filtered to Inactive, select the student(s) and tap Restore.
- Confirm.
Admins and staff with the Students permission only.
8.15 — Delete a student
⚠️
Deletion is permanent — it removes the student's attendance, enrollment, notes, behavior, and portfolio. Shared message threads are kept for other participants but show the student as removed. A student must already be withdrawn (inactive) before they can be deleted.
- Open the student — they must already be inactive.
- Open the Account tab and tap Delete.
- Confirm.
Admins and staff with the Students permission only.
8.16 — Add an entry to a child's Journey
- Open the student.
- Tap the Journey tab.
- Tap Add to portfolio (shown as Add first entry if the Journey is empty).
- Choose a Type: Milestone, Photo, Award, Artwork, Event, Note, First day, or Report.
- Add a Title, optional Description, and Date. Optionally add up to 6 photos.
- Set Visibility to Staff only or Share with parents.
- Tap Save entry.
ℹ️
Entries default to Staff only. Choose Share with parents if you want the family to see it in their child's Journey.
8.17 — See a student's contact info, custom fields & medical notes
- Open the student.
- Open the Health tab.
Shows Contact & Emergency (address, student phone/email, emergency contact), any Custom Fields your school has set up, and Medical & Allergies notes.
ℹ️
The Health tab needs the Students permission — a teacher who can otherwise open this student's profile won't see this tab without it.
8.18 — See a student's attendance history
- Open the student.
- Open the Attendance tab.
Shows a month-by-month attendance log with a summary and each day's status. A day the student left early shows the sign-out time, with a Signature you can view.
9.1 — See your children
Tap the My Children tab (open the menu ☰ on phone). Each child shows their photo, name, and class.
9.2 — Open your child's profile
Tap their card on the My Children tab.
The profile has four tabs: Overview, Attendance, Journey, and Updates.
9.3 — See your child's classes
Open your child's profile. On the Overview tab, scroll to Classes — you'll see every class they're currently in. Tap a class to open it.
9.4 — See your child's Journey
Open your child's profile and tap Journey. You'll see entries from staff — milestones, photos, awards, artwork, notes, and more — grouped by school year.
9.5 — See your child's attendance
Open your child's profile and tap Attendance. You'll see a day-by-day log for the month, with a summary and a filter by status. Days your child left early show a sign-out note. Inscriti doesn’t send a notification when a child is marked absent or late, so this log is the place to check.
9.6 — See updates about your child
Open your child's profile and tap Updates. This shows posts addressed to your child — whole-school posts, posts to their classes, and anything posted just to them.
9.7 — Message your child's teacher from their profile
- Open your child's profile (Overview tab).
- Scroll to Teachers.
- Tap the message icon next to their name.
9.8 — Request an early sign-out for your child
Let the school know your child is leaving early and who's picking them up. This sends a request — it doesn't sign your child out by itself; office staff still do that in person.
- On My Children, tap Early Sign-Out (or open your child's profile and tap the sign-out icon at the top).
- Choose which child (or children) are leaving early.
- Choose who's picking up — an approved pickup person, or Someone else with their name.
- Add a note if you want.
- Tap Notify school.
See Early Sign-Out for how the school completes the sign-out.
9.9 — See or cancel today's early sign-out requests
Requests you've sent for today appear on My Children, above your children, with a status: Pending, Signed out, or Cancelled.
To cancel a pending request, tap Cancel request on it and confirm. This tells the school your child is no longer leaving early.
9.10 — What if my child isn't showing up?
Contact your school office. They need to link your account to your child in their records. Make sure you signed in with the same email they have on file.
If your teacher gave you a class code, you can connect to the class yourself in the meantime — see Join a class with a code.
10.1 — See all staff
Tap the Staff tab. Use Active, Inactive, or All to filter, and the search box to find someone by name or email.
ℹ️
If you work at more than one school, Staff shows the school you currently have selected. Switch schools from Home.
10.2 — Add a staff member
- Tap the Staff tab.
- Tap the + button.
- Enter their First Name, Last Name, and Email Address.
- Tap Add Staff Member.
They get an email to set up their account. Everyone added this way starts as staff — there's no separate "teacher" choice. Assigning them to a class is what makes them a teacher of it. See Staff title vs. system role.
10.3 — Give someone admin access
Only a full administrator can grant administrative access — there's no separate "admin" role to pick when adding someone.
- While adding the staff member, or later from their profile (tap Edit), turn on Give this person administrative access.
- Choose Full administrator (everything, including managing other admins) or Custom permissions (pick exactly what they can see and manage).
- Save.
A full administrator shows as Admin everywhere in the app. Someone with custom permissions still shows as Staff, with extra access underneath. See Administrative access and permissions.
10.4 — Staff title vs. system role
Inscriti shows two different things about a staff member, and they don't affect each other:
- System role — Staff or Admin. This is what controls what they can actually do.
- Staff title — what they're called on their profile and their posts: Teacher, Teaching Assistant, Principal, Office Staff, or a custom title you type. It's display-only.
- Open the staff member's profile.
- Tap Edit.
- Under Staff title, pick a preset (Teacher, Teaching Assistant, Special Education Teacher, Substitute Teacher, Hebrew Teacher, Music Teacher, Office Staff, Program Coordinator, Youth Director, Administrator, Principal, Director) or choose Other / Custom and type one.
- Save.
ℹ️
Changing a staff title never grants or removes permissions — it only changes what shows on their profile and posts.
10.5 — Administrative access and permissions
What a staff member can manage is controlled separately from their staff title. Only a full administrator can grant or change anyone's access — from the staff member's profile, Edit → Administrative access.
- Full administrator — every administrative area, including managing other administrators.
- Custom permissions — pick exactly which areas they can view and manage.
Custom permission areas, each with View and/or Manage:
- Classes — see every class and its roster, or create/edit/archive classes and assign teachers.
- Posts — post to any class or the whole school; edit or delete any post or comment.
- Students — see every student record, or add/edit/import/withdraw students.
- Staff — see the staff directory, or add/invite/edit/archive staff.
- Families — see parents and guardian contacts, or link/unlink and invite them.
- Student attendance — see attendance, or correct it and run class QR codes.
- Early sign-out desk — process early sign-outs and review requests.
- Staff attendance — see the dashboard and history, or make corrections and manage the kiosk.
- Messaging — read school conversations (oversight), or manage alerts, flagged messages, and freezes.
- Announcements — send announcements to a class or the whole school.
- Calendar & events — create and manage school events and calendars.
- Reports — run, save, and export reports.
- School settings — profile, branding, features, school years, attendance settings, and custom fields.
Manage always includes View. Quick picks — Read-only, Front desk, Attendance, Communications, Office — fill in a common starting set that you can still adjust by hand.
ℹ️
A staff title like "Principal" or "Office Staff" is just a label — it never grants permissions on its own. Access always comes from Administrative access.
10.6 — Resend a staff invitation
- Open the Staff tab.
- Tap the Invitations icon (top right — it shows a count when invites are pending).
- Find the person and tap Resend.
Invitations move through Pending → Accepted, or can be Revoked or Expired.
10.7 — Revoke a pending invitation
- Open the Staff tab.
- Tap the Invitations icon.
- Find the person and tap Revoke.
A revoked invitation can't be accepted. Add them again if you change your mind.
10.8 — Assign staff to a class
From the staff list:
- Tap the Staff tab.
- Tap Select and choose one or more active staff.
- Tap the class icon for Assign to Class.
- Pick the class and tap Assign to Class to confirm.
From one person's profile:
- Open the staff member.
- Under Assigned Classes, tap Manage.
- Add or remove classes.
- Tap Save assignments.
10.9 — Set a staff member inactive (archive)
Inactive staff keep their account and history but lose access to the school — no posting, messaging, attendance, or student profiles — until reactivated.
From the staff list:
- Tap Select and choose one or more active staff.
- Tap the archive icon.
- Confirm Archive.
From one person's profile:
- Open the staff member → Account tab.
- Tap Set Inactive.
10.10 — Restore an inactive staff member
From the staff list:
- Tap the Staff tab and switch the filter to Inactive.
- Tap Select and choose one or more staff.
- Tap the restore icon and confirm Restore.
From one person's profile:
- Open the staff member → Account tab.
- Tap Reactivate.
ℹ️
Class assignments aren't restored automatically — add them back under Assigned Classes.
10.11 — Remove a staff member from the school
Removing deletes their teacher/admin access for this school. Their account and any posts they authored are kept, but they must be inactive first.
- Set them inactive — see Set a staff member inactive.
- With the Inactive filter on, tap Select and choose them.
- Tap the remove icon and confirm Remove.
ℹ️
This can't be undone from the app. If they should come back, add them again.
10.12 — Message a staff member from their profile
- Open their profile.
- Tap the message icon at the top.
11
Calendar
Monthly calendar and school events.
11.1 — About the Calendar
The Calendar tab shows your school's monthly calendar image, plus a list of school events for that month. It only appears if your school has enabled the feature.
11.2 — View the calendar
Tap the Calendar tab. The monthly calendar image is at the top; scroll down to see Events this month.
11.3 — Navigate between months
Tap the left or right arrow at the top of the calendar to move to the previous or next month. You can also tap the month or year to jump straight to one.
11.4 — Upload a calendar image (staff)
- Tap the Calendar tab.
- Move to the month you want.
- Tap the + button.
- Pick the image (a screenshot or scan of your monthly calendar works well).
Staff with the Calendar & events permission can upload a calendar image.
11.5 — Replace a calendar image (staff)
- Move to the month.
- Tap the + button again.
- Choose the new image. It replaces the old one for that month.
11.6 — View this month's events
Below the calendar image, the Events this month list shows every event scheduled for the month you're viewing. Tap an event to see its date, time, location, and description.
11.7 — Create a school event (staff)
- Open the Calendar tab and tap New event.
- Add a Title (required). Description and location are optional.
- Pick a Date. Turn on All day, or set a start and end time.
- Choose reminders — how long before the event families get notified (up to 5).
- Choose who it's for: Whole school or Specific classes.
- Leave Collect RSVPs on if you want families to respond.
- Tap Create event.
Staff can create events for their own classes. Staff with the Calendar & events permission can also create whole-school events. The audience can't be changed after the event is created.
ℹ️
New events are announced right away by push and in-app notification. Reminders you choose are also push and in-app only — they're never emailed, even in the daily summary.
11.8 — RSVP to an event
- Open the event from the Events this month list.
- Tap Going, Maybe, or Can't go.
Staff can see how many people responded each way. You can change your response any time.
11.9 — Edit or delete an event
- Open the event.
- Tap the pencil icon to edit it, or the trash icon to delete it.
- If deleting, confirm. The event and everyone's RSVPs are removed for everyone.
Available to whoever created the event, and staff with the Calendar & events permission.
12
Early Sign-Out
Front-desk kiosk pickups, plus requests from parents.
12.1 — About Early Sign-Out
Early Sign-Out is a kiosk-style feature for the front desk. When a parent or approved pickup person arrives to take a student home early, office staff use the kiosk on an iPad (or computer) to sign the student out with a digital signature — creating a fully audit-trailed record.
Parents can also send a heads-up from the app before they arrive — see Request an early pickup. The kiosk is still where the actual sign-out and signature happen.
12.2 — Sign out a student at the kiosk (office staff)
- Open Early Sign-Out and search for the student.
- Tap their card.
- If they're in more than one class, choose which one.
- Pick who's picking them up from the approved list — or tap Other pickup person if they're not listed.
- Choose a reason, if you'd like (Sick, Appointment, Sports game, Family emergency, Transportation, Other).
- Hand the iPad to the person picking up — they sign on the screen.
- Tap Done.
The signature, name, time, and reason are all saved on the student's record automatically. A student already signed out today shows a grayed-out card with the time.
ℹ️
If a parent already sent a request for this student, their note appears on the pickup step and their choice is pre-filled — you can still change it.
12.3 — When the pickup person isn't on the approved list
- On the pickup step, tap Other pickup person.
- Type their full name.
- Check the confirmation box — "I have confirmed parental approval to release [student] to this person" — before continuing.
- Continue to the signature step as normal.
ℹ️
Always follow your school's verification policy (for example, checking photo ID) before releasing a student to anyone not on the approved list.
12.4 — See today's completed sign-outs
Open the class's Attendance screen — a student who was signed out early that day shows a badge with the time and who picked them up, plus a View button for the signature.
For a school-wide list across every class, run the Early sign-outs report — see Run and filter a report.
12.5 — See the full early sign-out history
- Open Reports & Insights.
- Open the Early sign-outs report.
- Set a date range, then tap Export CSV or Export PDF if you want a copy.
It runs immediately with its default range — tap the filters icon to change the dates or which columns show.
12.6 — Request an early pickup (parents)
- Open My Children.
- Tap Early Sign-Out.
- Choose who's leaving early — you can select more than one child.
- Choose who's picking up: an approved guardian, or Someone else (type their name).
- Add an optional note.
- Tap Notify school.
The school sees your request and note when they process the pickup at the front desk, and your choice of pickup person is pre-filled for them.
12.7 — Cancel an early sign-out request (parents)
- Open My Children.
- Under Today's early sign-outs, find the request.
- Tap Cancel request and confirm.
Only a pending request can be cancelled. Once a student has been signed out at the kiosk, the request shows as Signed out instead.
12.8 — Sign-Out Notes (staff)
To see requests for a day without doing a sign-out, open Early Sign-Out and tap Sign-Out Notes.
- Today shows every pending request; step to a previous day to see that day's requests.
- Each entry shows who requested it, who's picking up, and any note.
13
Reports & Insights
Browse, run, save, and export reports.
13.1 — Open Reports & Insights
Open Reports & Insights from the menu (under Administration). It opens on an overview of the last 30 days — student attendance, staff attendance (if your school uses it), and enrollment — each with a shortcut into the report that explains it, or the hub for working with an individual record.
Below that: your saved reports, then every report grouped by category — Attendance, Staff attendance, Enrollment & classes, People & families, Health & safety.
Use the search box at the top to find a report by name.
ℹ️
Requires the Reports permission.
13.2 — Run and filter a report
- From Reports & Insights, tap any report — for example Attendance by class or Early sign-outs.
- It runs immediately using its defaults — there's no separate "Run" step.
- If it has a date range, tap a preset right on the page: Today, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, This school year, or Exact dates.
- Tap the filters icon at the top to open Filters & columns for anything else — class, status, staff member, and which columns show.
The row count and any active filter are shown above the table. Tap a row to open the student, class, or staff member behind it.
13.3 — Export a report as CSV
CSV files open in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Run the report.
- Tap Export CSV at the bottom.
- Save or share the file.
13.4 — Export a report as PDF
- Run the report.
- Tap Export PDF at the bottom.
- Save, print, or share it.
The PDF includes your school's name and logo.
13.5 — Print a student roster
- Open Reports & Insights and open Student roster (under People & families).
- Tap the filters icon → Filters & columns.
- Choose a class, and toggle which columns to include — name, date of birth, parent contacts, or custom fields like allergies or a bus number.
- Export as CSV or PDF.
13.6 — Choose which columns appear in a report
- Run any report.
- Tap the filters icon at the top → Filters & columns.
- Under Columns, tap each field to turn it on or off.
This is the same set of columns in the on-screen table and in your CSV or PDF export.
13.7 — Save a report
- Run and adjust a report the way you want it — date range, filters, columns.
- Tap Save report at the bottom (or Update saved report if you opened one you already saved).
- Name it and confirm.
Saved reports appear at the top of Reports & Insights and reopen with the same filters and columns every time.

School Management
For school admins.
14.1 — About School Management
The School Management tab is where you configure your school: profile and branding, school years, features, attendance settings, and custom student fields. Changes here affect everyone at your school.
Tabs: Profile, Completeness, School Years, Features, Attendance, and Custom Fields.
ℹ️
If you work at more than one school, School Management always edits the school you currently have selected. Switch schools from Home.
14.2 — Edit your school's name
- Tap School Management (it opens on the Profile tab).
- Update School name.
- Tap the checkmark at the top to save.
14.3 — Change your school's address
- Tap School Management → Profile.
- Update Address.
- Tap the checkmark at the top to save.
14.4 — Set your school's timezone
All times shown in the app — post times, attendance, and more — use this time zone.
- Tap School Management → Profile.
- Tap Time zone and pick yours.
- Tap the checkmark at the top to save.
14.5 — Change your school's primary color
Used for headers, accents, and branding throughout the app.
- Tap School Management → Profile.
- Under Primary Color, tap Choose Color to pick from the palette, or type a hex code.
- Tap the checkmark at the top to save.
14.6 — Upload your default logo
The natural-shape logo used in the sidebar and general school branding.
- Tap School Management → Profile.
- Under Branding, find Default logo and tap Upload (or Change to replace one).
- Choose an image.
- Tap the checkmark at the top to save.
14.7 — Upload a square logo
Used in the homepage school selector and other compact areas of the app.
- Tap School Management → Profile.
- Under Branding, find Square logo and tap Upload.
- Choose a square image.
- Tap the checkmark at the top to save.
14.8 — Upload a report logo
Optional logo that prints on reports, exports, and other printable documents.
- Tap School Management → Profile.
- Under Branding, find Report logo and tap Upload.
- Choose an image.
- Tap the checkmark at the top to save.
14.9 — Set a monogram
If no logo is set, the app shows your school's initials (a monogram) instead.
- Tap School Management → Profile.
- Under Branding, type up to 3 letters in Monogram (e.g., "TBS").
- Tap the checkmark at the top to save.
14.10 — Turn features on or off
- Tap School Management → Features.
- Toggle each feature: Calendar, Early Sign-Out, Student App Access, School Messaging, Staff Attendance.
- Tap the checkmark at the top to save.
ℹ️
A disabled feature is hidden from the menu and blocked if someone tries to open it directly.
14.11 — Create a school year
- Tap School Management → School Years.
- Enter a year label (e.g., "2026-2027"), a Start Date, and an End Date.
- Tap Create School Year.
14.12 — Set the active school year
Only one year is active at a time. New students enroll in the active year by default.
- Tap School Management → School Years.
- Find the year and tap Set Active.
14.13 — Edit a school year's dates
- Tap School Management → School Years.
- Find the year and tap Edit Dates.
- Update the start or end date.
- Tap Save Dates.
ℹ️
Only the dates can be changed here. A year's name is set when you create it.
14.14 — Promote students to the next year
Moves a past year's students into the active year, creating or reusing matching classes, instead of enrolling each student by hand.
- Tap School Management → School Years.
- Make sure the newer year you're promoting into is active.
- Under Promotion / Rollover, find the past year and tap Promote Students.
- Confirm.
ℹ️
Promotion moves every student on that year's roster — there's no per-student picker. Historical classes and records aren't changed.
14.15 — Add a custom student field
Custom fields let you store information specific to your school (allergies, bus number, dismissal preferences).
- Tap School Management → Custom Fields.
- Type the New field label.
- Pick the type: Text, Number, Date, or Yes/No.
- Turn on Required if staff must fill it in before saving a student.
- Tap Add Custom Field.
14.16 — Reorder custom student fields
- Tap School Management → Custom Fields.
- Use the up and down arrows next to a field to move it.
- Tap the checkmark at the top to save the new order.
14.17 — Edit or remove a custom field
Editing is inline — there's no separate edit screen.
- Tap School Management → Custom Fields.
- Change the label, tap a different type, or toggle Required directly on the field.
- To remove a field, tap the trash icon next to it.
- Tap the checkmark at the top to save.
14.18 — Find incomplete student and staff profiles
The Completeness tab shows which student, staff, and guardian profiles are missing information your school tracks — this is about people's records, not your school's branding setup.
- Tap School Management → Completeness.
- Switch between Students, Staff, and Guardians.
- Tap Filters to choose which fields count as complete for your school.
- Tap a person to open their profile and fill in what's missing.
Students are also checked for whether their family can be reached — on the app, by email, or not at all.
14.19 — Delete your school
Deleting a school isn't available to school admins. Contact Inscriti support if you need this done.
14.20 — Start a fresh roster for a new year
An alternative to promotion: marks every active student inactive for the active school year, so you can re-enroll them one at a time as families confirm for the new year.
- Tap School Management → School Years and make sure the new year is active.
- Under Begin year — fresh start, tap Reset roster.
- Confirm.
As each family confirms, open Students → Inactive and tap Re-enroll to put them back in a class.
14.21 — Delete a school year
- Tap School Management → School Years.
- Find the year and tap Delete Year.
- Type the exact confirmation phrase shown.
- Tap Delete Everything.
ℹ️
This permanently removes the year and everything attached to it — classes, attendance history, and class-linked posts. It can't be undone. To just hide a year without losing data, use Set Active on a different year instead.
14.22 — Staff attendance settings
The Attendance tab controls how staff sign in and out. Turn on Staff Attendance under Features first.
- QR Code — a static (printable) or rotating staff sign-in code, and whether QR sign-in is allowed at all.
- Class Attendance Codes — the check-in code families and students use, and whether location is checked at check-in.
- Kiosk — an iPad at the entrance where staff sign in by tapping their name or entering a PIN.
- Location Verification — off, flagging sign-ins outside your school's radius, or requiring staff to be on-site to sign in.
- Timing — late grace, early-leave grace, and a reminder for anyone still signed in past their expected end.
- Additional Attendance — how time logged outside a normal schedule (meetings, prep, events) gets approved.
Tap the checkmark at the top to save.
15
Notifications
Stay in the loop without overwhelm.
15.1 — See your notifications
On the Home screen, tap the bell icon near the top. It shows a small number badge when you have unread notifications.
15.2 — Open a notification
Tap it. The app takes you to the related post, message, or screen.
15.3 — Mark all notifications as read
- Tap the bell icon.
- Tap Mark all read.
15.4 — Clear all notifications
- Tap the bell icon.
- Tap Clear all.
- Confirm by tapping Clear All. This permanently deletes all your notifications.
15.5 — Turn on push notifications
ℹ️
Changes on the Notification Settings screen save automatically — there's no Save button.
- Open the menu (☰) and tap Account.
- Tap Notification Settings.
- Turn on Push Notifications. Your phone may ask you to allow notifications — allow it.
If it still doesn't work, open your phone's own Settings app, find Inscriti, and turn Notifications on there too.
ℹ️
Push notifications aren't available on the web version of Inscriti — that toggle is disabled on a computer. In-app notifications still work on the web.
15.6 — Turn off in-app notifications
- Open the menu (☰) and tap Account.
- Tap Notification Settings.
- Turn off Show In-App Notifications.
This controls the bell, the notifications list, and the unread badge count.
15.7 — Turn off email notifications
- Open the menu (☰) and tap Account.
- Tap Notification Settings.
- Turn off Email Notifications.
Urgent alerts and announcements are still emailed even with this off — everything else stops.
15.8 — Change how often you get email notifications
- Open the menu (☰) and tap Account.
- Tap Notification Settings.
- With Email Notifications turned on, find Email Delivery.
- Choose Instant or Daily summary.
Daily summary batches the day's posts, comments, and likes into one email each evening. Messages and urgent alerts are always sent right away, no matter which you choose.
15.9 — Choose which activity notifies you
Below the delivery toggles, Notification Settings has an Activity Types section that controls what creates a notification at all — across in-app, push, and email:
- Posts — a master switch, with separate toggles underneath for School-Wide Posts, Class Posts, and Student Posts
- Messages
- Comments and Likes — only shown if you're able to create posts, since these notify you when someone interacts with your own post
- Parent & Guardian Links — account-linking and relationship updates
- Events — new events and event reminders
Turn any of these off to stop that type of notification everywhere.
16

Troubleshooting
Stuck? Try these fixes first.
17.1 — I didn't get my invite email
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Confirm with your school that they used the right email.
- Ask them to send it again — staff invitations are resent from Staff → Invitations; parent invitations are sent again from the student's Family tab (see Invite a parent by email).
17.2 — My invite link doesn't work / says expired
Invitations expire after a while, and old links stop working for security. Ask your school to send you a new one.
17.3 — I can't sign in
- Type your email and tap Continue — make sure it's the right one.
- Make sure Caps Lock is off when typing your password.
- Tap Forgot password? to reset it — see Reset your password.
- If your account was created with Google or Apple, the app will point you to Continue with Google or Continue with Apple instead of asking for a password.
17.4 — I forgot which email I used
Try the email you most commonly use, then try any work or family email. If you still can't find it, contact your school — they can look it up.
17.5 — I forgot my password
Tap Forgot password? on the sign-in screen and follow the steps — you'll get a 6-digit code by email, not a link. See Reset your password.
17.6 — My password reset code didn't arrive
- Wait a minute and check spam.
- Tap Resend code (you may need to wait up to 60 seconds).
- Make sure you typed the right email.
17.7 — I can't see my school
- Make sure you signed in with the same email your school used to invite you.
- If you belong to more than one school, tap your school's name at the top of Home to switch — see Switch between schools.
- If your school is still missing, contact your school office.
17.8 — I can't see my child
- The school must link your account to your child.
- The child must be enrolled for the active school year.
- Contact your school office to confirm.
17.9 — Notifications aren't arriving
- Open the menu (☰), tap Account, then Notification Settings, and make sure Push Notifications is on. See Turn on push notifications.
- Open your phone's own Settings app, find Inscriti, and turn on Notifications there too.
- Try signing out and back in.
- Restart your phone if nothing else works.
ℹ️
Push notifications aren't available on the web version of Inscriti — that toggle is disabled on a computer, though in-app notifications still work there.
17.10 — The QR scanner won't read the code
- Clean the camera lens.
- Make sure there's enough light.
- Hold the camera steady, a few inches from the code.
- Make sure Inscriti has permission to use your camera — check your phone's Settings app if it never asked.
17.11 — A tab or feature is missing
What you see depends on your school and your own access:
- Calendar, Early Sign-Out, Student App Access, School Messaging, and Staff Attendance are switched on per school — ask your admin to turn one on if it's missing entirely. See Turn features on or off.
- Some areas, like Reports & Insights or School Management, only show for staff with the matching permission — see Administrative access and permissions.
- On a phone, only Home, Classes, and Messages are bottom tabs. Everything else lives behind the menu (☰).
17.12 — My post or message won't send
- Check your internet connection.
- Try a smaller attachment — very large files may fail.
- Posts allow up to 10 photos, videos, and files combined; messages allow up to 5 attachments.
- Close the app and reopen it.
- If you keep seeing an error, contact support.
17.13 — My photo upload is stuck or failing
- Check your internet.
- Try a different photo to see if the issue is just one file.
- Reduce the size of very large photos if possible.
17.14 — My document upload failed
- Posts accept PDF or Word documents; messages accept PDF only. Other file types, including Excel, aren't supported.
- Try again. If it still fails, the file may be too large.
17.15 — I'm signed into the wrong account
- Open the menu (☰) and tap Account.
- Scroll down and tap Sign Out.
- Sign in with the correct email.
Accepting an invite while signed into the wrong account? The app shows a Wrong Account screen with a Sign Out & Continue button — tap it to switch.
17.16 — The app is slow
- Pull down on any screen to refresh.
- Close the app and reopen it.
- Make sure you're on a strong internet connection.
- Update the app from jfeld.link/inscriti-download.
17.17 — The app crashed when I opened it
- Update to the latest version.
- Restart your phone.
- If it keeps happening, reinstall the app and sign back in.
17.18 — I changed schools and need to start over
Contact your old school to remove you and your new school to invite you. Your account itself stays the same.
17.19 — I see "You don't have access to this school"
This usually means you're signed in with the wrong email, or your school hasn't finished linking your account yet. Contact your school office to confirm which email they used and that your account is fully set up.
17.20 — I see content that shouldn't be on Inscriti
- Open the post (or find the comment).
- Tap the More icon (⋯).
- Tap Report, choose a reason, and tap Submit Report.
A school admin will review it. See Report a post or comment.

Launching Inscriti
A step-by-step rollout playbook.
18.1 — Overview
If your school is rolling out Inscriti for the first time, follow these steps in order. Most schools spend about two weeks on light setup before sending invitations to parents.
18.2 — Step 1 — Set up your school profile
Open School Management (it opens on the Profile tab). Add your name, address, time zone, primary color, and logos. See the School Management guide for full details.
18.3 — Step 2 — Create your current school year
From School Management → School Years, create the current year and tap Set Active. New students enroll into the active year by default. See Create a school year.
18.4 — Step 3 — Choose which features to turn on
Under School Management → Features, most schools start with Calendar and Early Sign-Out turned on, and Student App Access turned off unless they want students to use the app themselves. See Turn features on or off.
18.5 — Step 4 — Add custom student fields
Under School Management → Custom Fields, add fields for anything you track about students: medical info, allergies, bus number, dismissal preferences. These appear on every student profile and can be included in printed class lists. See Add a custom student field.
18.6 — Step 5 — Invite your staff
From the Staff tab, add your teachers and any other admins. They'll receive an email to set up their account. Grant administrative access to anyone who should be able to manage the school. See Add a staff member and Give someone admin access.
18.7 — Step 6 — Add your students
Add students one at a time, or import them from a CSV if you're coming from a previous system.
18.8 — Step 7 — Create classes and enroll students
Create each class, assign its teacher(s), then add students.
18.9 — Step 8 — Invite parents
From each student profile, add the parent's email. They'll receive an invite to set up their account, and they're linked to their child automatically the first time they sign in.
You can also share a class code so families connect themselves — handy for self-serve sign-ups and for grandparents or aides. See Class Codes & Inviting Parents for every option.
18.10 — Step 9 — Send a welcome post
Send a post with Whole School as the audience to welcome everyone and explain how you'll be using Inscriti going forward. See Create a post.
18.11 — Step 10 — Tell your community
Send a letter or email home so parents know to expect the invite. Sample wording:
Dear families,
Our school is now using Inscriti to keep you connected with your child's classes, teachers, and school updates. You'll receive an invitation email shortly with instructions to set up your account.
Once you're in, you'll be able to read announcements, message teachers, see class updates, and request early pickups (where available) — all in one app.
If you have any questions or trouble getting started, please contact the school office.
Thank you,
[School Name]
18.12 — Suggested launch timeline
- 2 weeks before launch: Set up school profile, school year, and features. Invite staff. Add a few test students.
- 1 week before launch: Add all students. Create classes. Have a 30-minute staff training session.
- Launch day: Send the welcome post. Send invites to parents in waves (one grade at a time is easier to support).
- First two weeks: Office staff should expect "I can't sign in" calls. Most are solved by Forgot password? or by checking the email on file.
