Getting Started
New to Inscriti? Start here.
1.1 — What is Inscriti?
Inscriti is a private app schools use to keep parents, teachers, and admins connected. It replaces group chats, email blasts, paper notes, and one-off texts with a single, organized place for school news.
1.2 — What can I do with Inscriti?
- See posts and announcements from your school and your child's classes
- Message teachers and school staff
- Get notified about new posts, messages, and important updates
- See your child's classes and (where enabled) their attendance
- Request an early pickup
- View the school calendar
- Edit your profile and notification preferences
1.3 — How do I download the app?
We recommend downloading the Inscriti app before you accept your school's invitation — that way the invite link opens straight into the app instead of the web.
- On iPhone or iPad: Open the App Store. Search Inscriti. Tap Get to install.
- On Android: Open the Google Play Store. Search Inscriti. Tap Install.
- On a computer: Open your web browser and go to web.inscriti.com. You don't need to install anything.
ℹ️
If you don't download the app first, the invite link will take you to the web to create your account. Both flows work — but the mobile app gives you push notifications and is faster day-to-day.
1.4 — How do I get my first invitation?
Your school office invites you. You will receive an email titled something like "You've been invited to Inscriti."
If you don't see it in your inbox:
- Check your Spam or Junk folder.
- Make sure your school used the same email you check most often.
- Contact your school office and ask them to resend the invite.
1.5 — How do I accept an invitation?
Once you have the email and (recommended) the app installed:
- Open the invitation email from Inscriti.
- Tap Accept Invite (or the link in the email).
- If the Inscriti app is installed on your phone, it opens directly and starts the onboarding. If not, it opens in your web browser to create your account.
- Follow the onboarding steps (see below).
- Verify your email when prompted.
Once you finish onboarding and verify your email, you're automatically signed in and linked to your school. No separate login step.
1.6 — Walk through onboarding
After tapping Accept Invite, you'll go through a short setup. Steps appear one at a time:
- First name — type your first name. Tap Continue.
- Last name — type your last name. Tap Continue.
- Email — confirm your email (already filled in from the invite). Tap Continue.
- Phone — type your phone number (optional). Tap Continue.
- Legal — read and accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Tap Continue.
- Password — type a password (8+ characters with a number and capital letter). Confirm it. Tap Continue.
- Email verification — open the verification email Inscriti sends you, click the link, then return.
- Notifications — choose if you want push notifications. Tap Continue.
- Profile picture — tap Add Photo or Skip.
- Tap Get Started.
You're now signed in and linked to your school. You can start using Inscriti right away.

- Tap Sign In.
- Type your email and password.

1.9 — How do I sign out?

Early Sign-Out
Front-desk kiosk for early pickups.
11.0 — About Early Sign-Out
Early Sign-Out is a kiosk-style feature for the front desk. When a parent or approved pickup person arrives to take a student home early, office staff use the kiosk on an iPad (or computer) to sign the student out with a digital signature — creating a fully audit-trailed record.
There is no parent-side request flow. Pickups happen in person at the school office.
11.1 — How the kiosk flow works
Here is what happens, start to finish, when someone arrives to pick up a student early:
- Office staff opens the Early Sign-Out tab on the kiosk iPad.
- Search for the student's name and tap their card.
- Tap Sign Out.
- Choose who is picking the student up: a linked guardian or another approved pickup person on file.
- If the person picking up is not listed, type in their name to create a confirmed entry for the record.
- Hand the iPad to the person signing out.
- They sign on the screen with their finger.
- Tap Done — the student is officially checked out.
The signature, name, time, and selected reason are all stored on the student's record automatically.
11.2 — Sign out a student (office staff)
- Open the Early Sign-Out tab.
- Search for the student by name.
- Tap the student's card.
- Tap Sign Out.
- Pick the pickup person from the list — or type a name if they're not listed.
- Hand the iPad to that person.
- Have them sign on the screen.
- Tap Done.
11.3 — When the pickup person isn't on the approved list
If someone shows up who isn't a linked guardian or on the approved pickup list:
- Tap Add Pickup Person (or the option to type a name).
- Type their full name.
- Confirm the request — this creates a documented entry on the student's record.
- Have them sign on the iPad as normal.
ℹ️
Always follow your school's standard verification policy (e.g., check photo ID) before handing the student over to anyone not on the approved list.
11.4 — View today's early sign-outs

Troubleshooting
Stuck? Try these fixes first.
17.1 — I didn't get my invite email
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Confirm with your school that they used the right email.
- Ask them to resend the invite from the Staff or Students screen.
17.2 — My invite link doesn't work / says expired
Ask your school to resend a fresh invite. Old links stop working for security.
17.3 — I can't sign in
- Check that you're using the right email.
- Make sure Caps Lock is off when typing your password.
- Try Forgot Password? to reset it.
- If you usually sign in with Google, tap Continue with Google instead of typing a password.
17.4 — I forgot which email I used
Try the email you most commonly use, then try any work or family email. If you still can't find it, contact your school — they can look it up.
17.5 — I forgot my password
Tap Forgot Password? on the sign-in screen and follow the steps. See the password reset guide.
17.6 — My password reset code didn't arrive
- Wait a minute and check spam.
- Tap Resend Code (you may need to wait 60 seconds).
- Make sure you typed the right email.
17.7 — I can't see my school
- Make sure you signed in with the same email your school used.
- If you belong to more than one school, tap the school name at the top of Home to switch.
- If your school is still missing, contact your school office.
17.8 — I can't see my child
- The school must link your account to your child.
- The child must be enrolled in the active school year.
- Contact your school office to confirm.
17.9 — Notifications aren't arriving
- Open Settings → Notifications in the app and turn on the type you want.
- Open your phone's Settings app, find Inscriti, and turn on Notifications.
- Try signing out and back in.
- Restart your phone if nothing else works.
17.10 — The QR scanner won't read the code
- Clean the camera lens.
- Make sure there's enough light.
- Hold the camera 6–10 inches from the code.
- Make sure Inscriti has permission to use your camera (in your phone's Settings).
17.11 — A tab is missing (Calendar / Early Sign-Out / Messages)
These features are turned on per school. Ask your school admin to enable them.
17.12 — My post or message won't send
- Check your internet connection.
- Try a smaller attachment — very large files may fail.
- Close the app and reopen it.
- If you keep seeing an error, contact support.
17.13 — My photo upload is stuck or failing
- Check your internet.
- Try a different photo to see if the issue is just one file.
- Reduce the size of very large photos if possible.
17.14 — My document upload failed
- Confirm the file is one of these: PDF, Word, Excel.
- Try again. If it still fails, the file may be too large.
17.15 — I'm logged into the wrong account
- Tap Settings → Sign Out.
- Sign in with the correct email.
17.16 — The app is slow
- Pull down on any screen to refresh.
- Close the app and reopen it.
- Make sure you're on a strong internet connection.
- Update the app from the App Store or Google Play.
17.17 — The app crashed when I opened it
- Update to the latest version.
- Restart your phone.
- If it keeps happening, reinstall the app and sign back in.
17.18 — I changed schools and need to start over
Contact your old school to remove you and your new school to invite you. Your account itself stays the same.
17.19 — I see "You don't have access to this school"
You're either signed in with the wrong email, or your school hasn't finished setting up your account. Contact your school office.
17.20 — I see content that shouldn't be on Inscriti
Tap the flag icon on the post or comment and choose a reason to report. A school admin will review it.

Launching Inscriti
A step-by-step rollout playbook.
18.0 — Overview
If your school is rolling out Inscriti for the first time, follow these steps in order. The whole process typically takes about two weeks of light setup before you're ready to send invitations to parents.
18.1 — Step 1 — Set up your school profile
Open School Management. Add your name, address, timezone, color, and logo. See the School Management guide for full details.
18.2 — Step 2 — Create your current school year
From School Management → School Years, create the current year and set it as active. New students enroll into the active year by default.
18.3 — Step 3 — Choose which features to turn on
Most schools start with Calendar and Early Sign-Out turned on, and Student App Access turned off unless they want students to use the app themselves.
18.4 — Step 4 — Add custom student fields
Add fields for anything you track about students: medical info, allergies, bus number, dismissal preferences. These appear on every student profile and can be included in printed class lists.
18.5 — Step 5 — Invite your staff
From the Staff tab, invite your teachers and any other admins. They'll receive an email to set up their account.
18.6 — Step 6 — Add your students
Add students one at a time, or in batches if you're importing from a previous system.
18.7 — Step 7 — Create classes and enroll students
Create each class, assign its teacher(s), then add students.
18.8 — Step 8 — Invite parents
From each student profile, add the parent's email. They'll receive an invite to set up their account.
18.9 — Step 9 — Send a welcome post
Send a Whole School post to welcome everyone and explain how you'll be using Inscriti going forward.
18.10 — Step 10 — Tell your community
Send a letter or email home so parents know to expect the invite. Sample wording:
Dear families,
Our school is now using Inscriti to keep you connected with your child's classes, teachers, and school updates. You'll receive an invitation email shortly with instructions to set up your account.
Once you're in, you'll be able to read announcements, message teachers, see class updates, and request early pickups (where available) — all in one app.
If you have any questions or trouble getting started, please contact the school office.
Thank you,
[School Name]
18.11 — Suggested launch timeline
- 2 weeks before launch: Set up school profile, school year, and features. Invite staff. Add a few test students.
- 1 week before launch: Add all students. Create classes. Have a 30-minute staff training session.
- Launch day: Send the welcome post. Send invites to parents in waves (one grade at a time is easier to support).
- First two weeks: Office staff should expect "I can't sign in" calls. Most are solved by Forgot Password or by checking the email on file.
